My workshop is located in Ledyard Connecticut (just north of Old Mystic).
Concrete Faux Bois (literally "fake wood" in French) is made by bending and welding steel into frames, or armatures, which is then covered in layers of concrete. Every part of the process is done by hand, and each piece is an original work of art.
The pieces are extremely durable and can withstand harsh environmental conditions. The steel frames are painted before the concrete is applied and I use proprietary blends which offer superior performance. Also, repairs can be carried out nearly indefinitely should the be required in the case of accidental damage.
Everything here on my website can be duplicated, although there will be subtle variations. There is nothing here that can't be customized, in fact there is no limit to what I can create.
Currently I offer delivery within a day's distance of my studio, and in special circumstances, for example large installations. My work has shipped internationally and I can offer recommendations of trusted shippers for out of state orders.
"Michael Fogg’s faux bois furniture is inspired by the tree forms found in the Northeastern United States, as well as traditional French Rocaille and Southwestern Trabajo Rustico. Weathered branches, stumps, and old boards are all treated as sculptural subjects, their seeming fragility contradicted by a stone-like density."
